He was named managing director in 2006 and partner in 2014.

Throughout his career at Goldman Sachs, Ed has exemplified the firm’s commitment to client service and has been instrumental in the growth of our European franchise. In addition to his commercial contributions, Ed has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the people and culture of Goldman Sachs, including in his role as co-sponsor of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Network in Europe.

Please join us in thanking Ed for his many contributions to the Securities Division, and in wishing him and his family the very best for the future.

Knight has also taken part in an ocean rowing race to raise money to help end HPV-related cancer. He ran a marathon in Berlin and has climbed a number of 4,000-meter peaks in the Alps, including the Matterhorn and the Eiger, according to a bio of him on a charity website. The site lists some individual charity donations for his race that exceeded $10,000.

A Goldman spokesman declined to comment.
