Winter is here, which means awards season is in full swing. Hollywood’s favorite time of year kicks off Jan. 6 with the Golden Globe Awards, whose nominations were announced Thursday by Terry Crews, Danai Gurira, Leslie Mann and Christian Slater.
The series of months surrounding awards shows usually churn out most of the nominees, but February’s Black Panther swooped in to clinch a few nominations (especially in music categories). It could well be on track to represent Marvel and Disney at the Oscars.
HFPA President Meher Tatna also announced the inception of a new award for achievement in television performance, similar to film’s Cecil B. Demill Award.
