Marriott International said on Friday that up to 500 million hotel guests may have had their data compromised in a hack of the Starwood reservation database.
During the recent investigation of a “data security incident” of the Starwood system, Marriott learned “that there had been unauthorised access to the Starwood network since 2014,” the hoteliers said in a statement.
The company said on Friday that credit card numbers and expiration dates of some guests may have been taken.
