Now that Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have called off their engagement, people are poring over their recent behaviour to try and figure out where and when it all went wrong.
One thing that fans have just stumbled across is the time the SNL comedian appeared on the show and cracked an eery joke about what would happen to him if their engagement ever fell through.
During his Weekend Update appearance, Pete also made reference to a possible pre-nup (“obviously I wanted one so God forbid we split up and she takes half my sneakers”), while making a comment about the track ‘Pete Davidson’ on album Sweetener.
“You know, I don’t even get royalties for that ‘Pete Davidson’ song? Like, if we break up, and we won’t—we will—but we won’t. I’m kidding. But like in ten years if God forbid that ever happened, there will be a song called ‘Pete Davidson’ like playing in speakers at K-Mart and I’ll be working there.”
TMZ were the first to report that their relationship had come to an end, with the pair both reportedly “acknowledging that it simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off.”
The couple first got together in June, following the end of Ariana’s relationship with late rapper Mac Miller. Even so, hope could still be on the horizon, with an insider claiming that the two “aren’t ruling out the possibility of anything in the future.”
