‘The Royals’ star Liz Hurley receives $2,600 in compensation after a driver working for Amazon ran over her labrador

Elizabeth Hurley has received £2,000 ($2,618) in compensation after her two-year-old labrador, Hector, was run over by a driver working for Amazon.

Hector was hit at Hurley’s estate in Herefordshire, and sustained a collapsed lung and a broken leg. The driver in question was employed by an undisclosed company contracted by Amazon to deliver its parcels.

The Mail on Sunday reported that Amazon covered the £2,000 vet fees, citing quotes from Hurley’s sister Katie, but an Amazon source it was an independent delivery company that paid the bill.

“Amazon clearly thought we’d give up and go away,” Katie Hurley said.

“All we ever sought were the vet’s bills. But they kept trying to deny it was their fault and tried to blame it on the driver not being an employee of theirs. So last week I was forced to threaten legal action and they then agreed, pretty quickly, to pay the bill.”

According to the Mail on Sunday, Liz Hurley added: “[Amazon] have finally settled the bill and it has taken them nine months to do so. That’s all I can say about it.”

An Amazon spokesman said: “This incident does not reflect our high standards for customer obsession and we will ensure that it is resolved to the full satisfaction of the customer.”

Katie said the driver had been going too fast. “The van was driving too fast. Because it happened on the estate a speed limit can’t be enforced so we ask people to use their common sense, but he didn’t,” she said.

Hurley stars in E! drama “The Royals,” which was reportedly cancelled last month, while her movie roles include “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” and “Bedazzled.”
